Meetings often determine whether a good idea turns into a successful project. Especially in the investment sector, it is crucial to quickly and precisely make use of knowledge from many conversations.
We discussed this with Aurelio Perucca, co-founder and CEO of Splint Invest. The platform enables private investors to start investing in alternative assets such as art, wine, or watches from as little as 50 euros. In the interview, Aurelio explains how his team documents meetings today, the role efficiency and transparency play, and why ultimately the investors benefit the most.
Who are you – and what do you actually do?
I am Aurelio Perucca, co-founder and CEO of Splint Invest. We are an investment platform that gives private investors access to alternative assets such as art, wine, watches, cars, or sports memorabilia – starting from 50 EUR.
My daily routine is strongly shaped by collaboration with our Head of Investments, Mario von Bergen, and our financial analyst team. They take care of sourcing, analyzing, and evaluating our assets. This work follows a rule-based approach, which we document consistently – more about this here: Our Investment Approach. This ensures that we find the best assets and act transparently towards our investors.
How were meetings handled in the past?
In the past, we had countless conversations with experts, dealers, or appraisers, which are extremely important when it comes to properly classifying an asset. The problem: much of it remained in personal notes, chats, or scattered across documents. This meant that when creating investment memos – the core of every investment decision – we spent unnecessarily much time reworking and gathering information.
How do you specifically use Meeting Metrics?
We use Meeting Metrics to directly capture, structure, and transfer these conversations into investment memos. This way, each call results in a usable document that our analyst team can immediately process further. This is especially helpful in meetings with external partners or during due diligence processes, where seamless documentation is crucial.
Anyone interested in getting an impression of the assets we analyze can find our current investment opportunities, as well as examples of success stories.
What has changed as a result?
Clearly: efficiency. Today, we no longer have to wonder "who said what?" or "where are the notes?" Everything ends up automatically in one place and flows directly into our decision-making processes. This saves a tremendous amount of time and ensures transparency – both within the team and towards our investors.
The meeting culture has noticeably changed as a result: Our analysts and I can focus more on the content instead of rework. And for our investors, this ultimately means that we make better decisions – for example regarding diversification or weighing risks and opportunities.
And personally? Looking ahead.
What motivates me right now is that with Splint Invest we are creating something that does not yet exist in this form: a professional, transparent, and at the same time accessible platform for alternative investments. Personally, I look forward to further developing our fund offerings because we can scale our rule-based investment model even more there.
My tip for better meetings: Don’t put everything on the agenda, but document consistently. With the right tools – like Meeting Metrics for us – every meeting automatically becomes more valuable because the results are clearly recorded and can be used immediately.
